Hello family and friends,
A Big Texas style shout out to everyone around US, UK and Europe from Houston, TX. It has been an eventful year for many especially people in Houston & US. Hurricane Harvey has really brought down so much rain flooding lots of communities in and around Houston and many of our neighbors are still dealing with the aftermath. Many of them are still displaced and don’t have their home rebuilt yet. With help of neighbors and friends, we helped them to recover and continue to help them in rebuilding effort by local fundraisers Let’s hope and pray they soon get back to their normal life.
From the personal front, we are doing great, kids are growing too fast! Past few months, I was totally engulfed with Harvey efforts to help our neighbors. We sold our Great Harvest Bakery in Jul-August and moved on. We learned lots of hard lessons and an important one, “Invest in your best asset, what you know and can do the best”. I discovered that I am good with helping people so moved on to become a Real Estate Broker from Agent by passing Texas RE Exam and started my own Brokerage, “Om Realty Group“. I hope to help many families to get their dream home and also help build their real estate investment portfolio.
Quick Recap for Year 2016
Last year was another good year with support from all over but it could have been better. We raised over $2510 which helped to continue to support 20 kids in our pool plus 3 kids from our past endowment deposits. Here is the details of the kids sponsored. Totally, 23 kids education was sponsored last year. Currently, we have total 3 fixed deposit endowments and eventually get to having 10 endowments to support 10 kids permanently.
This year Campaign
With so many natural disasters, many organizations asked for donations, I am sure many of you already donated enough this year. It surely created donors fatigue. Let’s chip in little bit more and take care of our yearly commitment. If you are our part of our donors family, you all know it’s time of the year again to come together to support and I hope you will all continue with your donation. First timers, I strongly urge to check about our cause and organization and donate to be part of our sponsors community.
We will continue to support Sevalaya, active non-profit organization in Tamilnadu, India which not only educates hundreds of local village kids and orphans, also guides them to stand in their feet by placing them in qualified professions and help them start a new life by arranging weddings with a right partner. Sevalaya kids continue to prove in their academic skill year and year again by giving 100% pass result in 10th and 12th grade public exams.
Another great news this year for our Sevalaya organization. It has been officially recognized as non-profit organization and IRS has approved 501(c)3 designation allowing tax deductions for all donations to the organization. Thanks to Sevalaya US Team who worked hard to get it done record 2 months.
Being part of Sevalaya sponsors family, it is our unbound responsibility to continue to help those education hungry kids. I kindly request you all to open your heart and contribute graciously and continue the tradition of giving by making a difference in these kids life. Every dollar you contribute goes directly to help the kid’s education, no layer involved.
