Hello Friends/Families,
How are you all doing Physically and mentally?
Are you trying to cope with this new normal? I know we all thought that we were out of the woods when the vaccination came about. Unfortunately while I am writing this email, we have new variants of coronavirus and the world is back under alert. When we are slowly getting back to the old normal, the new normal doesn’t seem to go away. It’s almost going to be 2 years since this pandemic started and life has been a real roller coaster ride for people all over the world, yours, mine and especially among lower class people in India. Personally, we are doing good and had a good year for our business. Yes, I had to quit my job and go 100% business under the “Om Group” umbrella with more expanded real estate operations. Thank God for the blessings and to my family and friends for all the support.
Quick Recap of 2020-2021 Fundraiser
We raised together $5210 with your support getting close to the previous year’s record even with the pandemic. That’s a great accomplishment. With last year funds, we continue to support 24 kids in our pool plus increased fixed deposit endowment sponsorship from Seven to Nine. In Total, 33 kids’ education was sponsored last year. We are almost close in reaching our initial target of creating 10 endowments to support 10 kids permanently forever. Thank you all again one more time.
This year Campaign
I have recently visited India a month ago and things seem to be getting back to normal but I hear a lot of lower class families are having a tough time with it. Less jobs, lots of restrictions, less support from government etc., Many families are struggling even with government support. Kids don’t have the facility to attend school virtually. Children from 40 villages in the area study in Sevalaya school and they depend on Sevalaya for everything.Sevalaya opened its doors back again last summer with much needed precaution and also hitting the road to give education to the kids. Dedicated teachers of Sevalaya formed teams, prepared a schedule and visited each village to conduct classes. All educational aids like books, notebooks, stationery are provided free to the students as always. The village Panchayat provides space in a common building. All precautionary measures like wearing masks, frequent washing of hands and maintaining social distance are strictly implemented. Teachers are able to give personal attention to students.
Sevalaya also tried to help the local communities all around Tamilnadu during the flood last year as well. It’s more than ever important to support the organization to keep the promise of their young talents and continue their life journey.
Sevalaya kids continue to prove their academic skill year and year again by giving 100% pass results in 10th and 12th grade public exams. You can learn more about the organization History, Students success stories, and view some videos about the organization and their media coverage here.
